Tonner Family
« on: Wednesday 04 February 09 07:29 UTC (UK) »

Can anyone help please?

I have a Tonner family living with the Bell/Fibiger family on the 1891 Census, living in Blackburn, Livingstone.  I think that Catherine might be a sister to William Bell and Agnes Fibiger.

Owen Tonner b. c1859
Catherine Tonner b. c1854
Peter Tonner b. c1886
William Tonner b. c1888
Catherine Tonner b. c1890

If they are siblings, their parents were William Bell and Mary Collins m 31st December 1849 Mid Calder

many thanks,

Hi Tina Cheesy

It's so good to find someone from this side of my family!  I was beginning to think I was imagining everything I have been told.  I do have a little more information to share but I am in work so it will be later,

thank you for replying,

Hi Pip and Tina...
Iam also researching the Tonner family, Havnt had much luck though Huh
But after i googled tonner family i found this Smiley

Do you have any information on a Sarah Tonner? not sure of her exact D.O.B
but its approx 1880-90. not sure when she died.
She married a John young and they had 5 children
Charlotte young , John young, Mary young, Sarah young and Elspeth young

Then Sarah Tonner went on to have more children to a Patrick Wallace
Jean Wallace, Ina Wallace, Sam Wallace and Helen Wallace.

Does any of this information mean anything to you both?

Hope to hear back from you

Hi tina thanx for getting back to me Smiley,
Iam actually unsure if Sarah was born in ireland but its not impossible. I dont actually know what  her parents names where sorry Huh.. Any family members that would have known this have actually past away
but il try and find out, I was told Sarah Could have been called Sarah Paul Toner/Tonner(unsure of the correct spelling of her last name) The date you have for sarah born in 1868 whould be about right as her first child would have been born late 1800s to 1900.

Does a Sarah Paul Toner ring any bells?

thanx sarah  Grin

hi sarah,
i know how you feel but my sarah as far as i know stayed in ireland, my mother doesn't remember
an aunt sarah. my mother never met her grandfather he died when she was a month old . the only advice i can give you if you can get her marriage cert it will tell where she was born and her parents names, i hope this helps. i had a quick look on ancestry uk there  is a sarah toner living in motherwell in 1881 her parents thomas and rose both born in ireland ,i would join ancestry it doesn't hurt to try and try and remember are the names similar .
       hope you find her
