Hi Beans,
Can't work it out either! There are several Wm Beveridges born in the areas you are looking at so perhaps there were 2 Wm's closely related? I have had a look for the children they had with the wives and many names are similar. The Wm married to Janet would be a bit older than the one married to Elizabeth maybe.

Hya Beans, William Beveridge who married Elizabeth Hynd were my 4x greatgrandparents. My mother's maiden name was Beveridge and I have traced the family back to the middle 1600's. I will take a look at my records and get back to you as Janet Brown rings a bell.Regards GEN10

Hi Beans,
I also have a WILLIAM BEVERIDGE married to JANET BROWN on 30th April 1774 at Torryburn.
The only certificate I have is the death of their daughter CATHERINE BEVERIDGE (1797-1820) who married PETER CAMPBELL, CATHERINE died on 13th July 1870 and her parents were listed as WILLIAM BEVERIDGE, Coal Miner (deceased) and JANET BEVERIDGE M/S BROWN (deceased)
Regards.

hi bill thanks for the reply do you have any other children for william and janet i have onlt a robert 1779 and a david 1776.  this william was connected to the wrong family.  i am looking for his parents as i now have been able to verify the william married to elizabeth hynd is the son of alexander beveridge and christian morice/mories.  so that leaves the other william without parents.  thanks for the help  this is another one one like the james and euphemia mess

Beans

If you and Bill are both correct  I think it's a bit unlikely that Janet Brown's husband can be "your William Beveridge.
You have "william beveridge born mar 27 1763".
Bill has "WILLIAM BEVERIDGE married to JANET BROWN on 30th April 1774"
This would make Wiilam 11 years old at marriage. Do you think this is likely?

hi Dod  i actually have both of these williams. it is another one of those mistakes in my tree one is married to elizabeth hynd and one is married to janet brown.  i am trying to connect the 2 williams to the right parents as they were sent to me by somebody else but were both attached to one single set of parents.   hope that made sense

Beans

It makes sense that there are 2 Williams but you started off giving a birth date 1763 and telling us "he" was connected to 2 families in your tree. Do the connections not suggest different ages for the 2 Williams? Are the connections "extracted"? Are there naming patterns in the families involved?

You ask about other children for William and Janet. A quick LDS search gives 3 "extracted" births for children to William Beveridge and Janet Brown viz. un-named female 9 Jan 1784 at Carnock, Robert and William both born 27 Oct 1779, christened 31 Oct 1779 Torryburn. In addition there are "submitted" entries for Agnes 1786, John 1782, David 1776, Thomas 1777, Margaret 1788, George 1790, Catherine1 794, Catherine 1797 at various locations. Surprised you didn't find Wiiliam when you found Robert his twin, presumably, unless the extracts are erroneous.

OK can i throw another William Beveridge into the ring.... My bloke was married to margaret Balmain in 1813. William i believe was born in 1788, 23 June? Thanks to some info Irene sent me. It would seem that Peter Beveridge born ? and Helen Swan born? were his parents. But i have not been able to confirm this.
As i mentioned in other Posts a fellow family member suggests that william was born in 1793, but i am going out on a limb and suggest the earlier date.
My mother was a Beveridge Decendant and I also have the name, and she [mum] alway declared that the Beveridges that settled in Beveridge and Swan Hill both in Victoria Australia were of our family line. I would love to make this declaration a reality if it were so.
you can blame Diddy for me doing this!!!!!!!!!!!

Hya Ross, I don't know if you have this info or not. Peter and Helen's date and place of marriage.

PETER BEVERIDGE Pedigree
  Male   Family
Birth:  about 1766   Of, Falkland, Fife, Scotland

  Spouse:  HELEN SWAN  Family
Marriage:  02 DEC 1787   Falkland, Fife, Scotland
On Scotlands People I put in the dates 1734-1746 for helen Swan born in Fife and came up with two records. I have no credits left to see if there were a conection. I found nothing for Peter Beveridge.
Hope this helps
