My names in Branston, Lincs area
« on: Wednesday 04 February 09 18:44 UTC (UK) »

I am researching the Redford from the Branston area. One of their daughters Eliza Jane was married to a Alf Green, cannot find any info on him?? Any ideas, his father's name may possibly Edwin.
Thanks, SZ

I'm suspecting he may be the one with MITCHELL grandmother at Canwick in 1891 (half an hour's walk from Branston) ... in which case I think his parents were John GREEN and Harriett MITCHELL.  This Alf was registered Lincoln Q4 1879.

His mother's sister Susanna married first a CARRATT, then a SEWELL.  Alf was with the SEWELLs in both 1881 and 1901.

But then, I may be totally wrong.  Embarrassed

On the marriage certificate it states his father was either Edwin or Edward. He possibly was from Sleaford? Is that close to Canwick, he was also in the army when he married.

I think I have them now.

1881 has
Fen Side, Stickford
Edward GREEN 32 AgLab, Scamblesby
Sarah 29 Skegness
William 8 Stickford
Edward 6 Stickford
Alfred 3 Stickford
Henry 8m Stickford

In 1891, father appears as Edwin from Scandlesby
In 1901, he was Edward from Skirborn (Alf had left home by then)

Searching 1911 for Alfred GREEN in Stickford (a lucky guess) finds someone aged 34.
Searching 1911 for Elize Jane GREEN in Stickford finds one aged 34 ... narrowing the search to one born in Branston, she still shows up, so I conclude this was your lass .... so I think I have the right Alf GREEN.  There was also a John Edwin GREEN 2 living in Stickford.  The father now appears as Edwin again aged 63 and Sarah was 60.

Marriages Dec 1872
BARNETT    Sarah        Spilsby    7a   1219
GREEN    Edwin         Spilsby    7a   1219

I have some Redfords in my database - originating in Nottinghamshire but setted in Branston
