Looking for additional information on the Donald Saunders family, his parents and siblings. Donald, b: abt 1750. Spouse was Sarah Edwards, b: abt 1755. They were married about 1780 in Co. Kilkenny.
Their son; Henry John, b: 1794 in Kilkenny and emmigrated to Lanark Co, PO, Canada. According to my records; he also, was married (March 1818) to a Sarah Edwards (b: 1798).
These are the g & gg-grandparents of my wife. Would appreciate any additional info, or corrections.
Thank you
Bob

Hi Bob,
You seem to have stumbled into the same wall as several other researchers. I am a descendant of Henry John Saunders as well, and wish you the best of luck knocking down this wall.

the oldest directory entry I can find for the surname Saunders in Co. Kilkenny is from Pigots of 1824 :
Edmond Saunders, Black-mills, Kilkenny (city) - publican (Pigots 1824)
there are also quite a few Saunders records on the Rothe House section of the IFHF website at www.irish-roots.ie
From the list of sources it does not look like many records (RC or CofI) survive for Co. Kilkenny before 1800.

Hi Shane,
Thanks for this information. The Pigots entry is interesting. Edmond Saunders would certainly be of an age to be part of this family, although the name Edmond has not been carried on through the known family lines. Of the five known children of Donald, or possibly Donald Thomas Saunders, all , with the exception of a daughter, who died in 1805, emigrated to Canada, with their families, in mid 1820's.
