Hi noseyoap
I have just looked on the IGI but couldnt find him. Have you got his marriage certificate? If not this will give his fathers name and occupation.

Hi
Irish research can be tricky as many records were destroyed in a fire in 1922 at the Public Records Office in Dublin. Lynaugh is a rare name though. You have his fathers name and his birthplace to go on.
There were two Thomas Laynaughs in the 1851 and 1861 censuses. I wonder if they were related?

The Irish Family History Foundation at www.irish-roots.ie includes some parish transcripts for Co. Meath - with the following possible baptism matches :
Lynagh Patrick 1837 Co. Meath Lynagh Patrick 1837 Co. Meath Lynagh Patrick 1839 Co. Meath Lynagh Patrick 1839 Co. Meath
all in Athboy RC parish which looks like the next-door parish to Kells , Athboy town is about 10 miles south of Kells
it's a pay site (€5 per transcript), index search is free if you register.
civil records started here in 1864.

Hi
I am csure that one of those is that of your Patrick Lynaugh. If one of them had a father named Bryan then you are onto a winner.

those films will be available in the National Library in Dublin.
you order them using the film numbers (NLI pos 4185 / NLI pos 4173)
The details for these parishes seem to be included in the Irish Family History Foundation website mentioned above..

Hello
I am also looking for Patrick Lynaugh and Ann Elizabeth Harmston. Not having much luck with this either and have looked on the irish family history foundation aswell, no exact matches and only one bryan linaugh who died in Mayo in 1877 - it could match but it is quite a long way out!
Do you have any photos of the descendants of Patrick? I have none.
Cheers
Katy

Hi Noseyoap, I may be in the National Library in the next few days and will try and look up those Athboy baptism records for you .... if they are decipherable.

Hi Pat
Yes I think we have crossed paths before on ancestry then. I am descended from Henry James Lynaugh (he is my great grandfather). There is a family story that Patrick was a headteacher in Ireland, which seems odd because he appears to be illiterate - unless he only wrote in Irish? I'm having trouble with Ann E but she keeps changing from using Ann or Elizabeth. There is a record of an Ann E in the workhouse in Lincoln but it's impossible to tell if this is her.
Are you going to upload your photos onto ancestry? I have a real curiosity to see what they all looked like.
Cheers
Katy
