Roger

William wasn't born 1835 my mistake, it was 1839.

I have him baptised on 28 April 1839 at St Andrew's Church, Heckington, which is where Elizabeth Ann and John were baptised.  Oddly I can't find him on IGI, but as I was in contact with an ancestor of one of the Baxter Stantons, I can only think I got the info from him.  I'll see if I've still got my notes.

Oh thank you Geoff, I knew I'd got the info from somewhere, although I still think maybe it was verified by the other ancestor.

Hi Roger
Fair enough I'll accept the Edwards bit. Do we know Lucy's parents ie Susannah's grandparents. Edwards or Lain side.

Hi Lizzie, too

Hi, I don't as Susannah was just the wife of my 5 x g.uncle so not my direct line.

Hi Lizzie That's OK
The Stantons are  tricky enough to manage but I still get side tracked and always want that next ancestor.

You have all been a great help and inspire me to continue the searching.

Thanks again

Geoff strikes again Lyn, Thanks Geoff. Very true that the Stantons are difficult to manage, that alarming habit of calling most of the males Edward!

It's you Roger  Tongue

Looking back to my first reply (to your initial request)  in this thread, I find ...

Looking a bit further, I see

1) the baptism of a Lucy EDWARDS in Holbeach in 1765
2) the burial of a Lucy LANE in *Heckington* 25 April 1822 aged 57.

I'm struggling to find a burial for Sam that would give a clue to his age.  FreeReg claims to be complete for Holbeach and Heckington.

The only one in either of those places which is anywhere near (and I've only seen transcriptions) is

27 Dec 1814 Holbeach, Samuel SAIN (33)

.

As I can't find my 3 x g.gran's baptism, presumably that means, she wasn't baptised, or she was baptised elsewhere, or unlikely as her possible parents married in a C of E church, she was baptised in a non conformist chapel.
