1891 Gateshead/SouthShields
« on: Saturday 12 February 05 18:36 GMT (UK) »

Hi,

Looking for the following children.

Robert Atkinson b 1885
Margaret Jane Atkinson b. 1888
Caroline Atkinson b. 1890

Not necessarily together, unfortunately.

Robert has birth place of Newcastle.
Margaret Jane has a birth registered in the Gateshead district.  But was christened in South Shields.
Caroline was christened South Shields.

I've looked for the parents before (James and Caroline Atkinson) and they have not surfaced.  Hoping that I may have better luck concentrating on the children.

Hope somebody may be able to help.

Regards

Thanks for that.

Could you tell me.  Can the 1891 Census be searched by occupation?

The only thing I am sure about on this family (as all else comes up with nothing) is the fathers profession.  Hair Dresser.  I am wondering if that would show.

Regards,

Jan,

Hi,

Crickey.  I didn't realise that South Shields was so well covered for hairdressers!  They must all have looked very smart.  Thank you very much for persevering.

I've run you're reply out.  I need to sort out have and if varying bits fit in.  I don't know if it will get me any closer, but I will have to see. You never know.

One of the children I am searching for, I have found a registration for a death that could be hers in 1891.  I'm wondering if it's worth sending for it to see if it has an address.  Can the 1891 be searched by address?

Otherwise the only address I have in 11 William Street, Gateshead, but although the family were there in 1897, I don't know how long for.

Many thanks for your help.

Kind regards
