Most Bradburys will have descended from families in the Bredbury area in the west of Cheshire, and branched out to the surrounding counties of north Derbyshire, south Lancashire and east Yorkshire.

Personally I am descended from John Bradbury b. 1804 Disley, Cheshire, who settled in Salford (Manchester, Lancashire) in the 1820s where all his children (Frances, William, Thomas, Jabez, John & Benjamin, Sarah Ann, Hannah and John, and most of his grandchidlren were born.  John Bradbury from Disley was a reedmaker but presumably found his trade becoming redundant and became a porter and then clerk in a bank.  Many of his children were in the shoemaking trade.
