Hi Antiqueue

Well done on spotting those names - its a family historians dream to find something like that pertaining to their family.

There are special columns in most of the genealogical publications like 'Family Tree' where you can 'pass it on' to its possible family - and in most publications this particular section is usually free..

Other than that place the surname, relevant dates and location in the 'For Sale / Wanted' section of this board plus post the names in the relevant one-name study section.

Normally these kind of things are passed on for the cost price, plus a small amount to cover postage / packaging to it new owner

Hope that helps

It would be fantastic if we could reunite the book and the the family together Cheesy It is what dreams are made of for so many of us.

Many years ago I found an old pocket sized Bible which was inscribed "To Len with dearest  love from Nancy - The Lord watch between thee and me when we are absent one from another." [So many people don't know the whole context of this quote from a story of two back-stabbing men who couldn't trust each other!]  On the facing page Len had written "Lt L R Chandler" and over, on the next two pages, a list of his raids on the border town of Metz during the First World War, culminating with his being shot down and the entry "Machine hit in 3 places by anti-aircraft fire - top, fin and petrol tanks.  Left plane."  Coincidentally, there would have been no further room for any more entries.  I looked up Len and found he'd survived the war and been demobbed in 1919 in Grays, Essex.  I wrote to the local paper appealing for his relatives to contact me, which they did, and I posted it to them.  I hope they received it OK as they never let me know.

How nice it would have been, after taking the time to track them down, to know  that they had received it.

Not many people would have bothered these days.
