Clark Smith b. c1879 Caunton, Notts
« on: Sunday 08 February 09 15:28 UTC (UK) »

Hi
I am trying to track Clark Smith b,c1879 Caunton, Nottinghamshire.

He appears on the 1881 census, aged 2, s/o Hawthorn (Orthorn) and Lydia Smith residing in Edingley, and then again aged 12 in 1891 again in Edingley.

After that I can't find him anywhere.
The family are listed as Hawkers so he may have moved on.

I also know there was a cholera epidemic in the Southwell area of Notts around the turn of the century so he may have been a victim of that.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks Cheryl

Clark Smith Dec 1878 Southwell 7b /366.
There are people on this site researching Hawthorne Smith. If you put him into the search he will come up. They are very loosely connected to me, via Hawthorns wife Lydia (also Smith ). She is the daughter of Robert Smith and one of his 3 wives. Roberts last wife was my great great aunt,Eliza. So she would have been Lydias step mother.

Thanks Larkspur.

Hawthorn was my Gt Gt Grandfather. I have info about all his other children but Clark just seems to disappear.

Thanks for keeping this in mind, Larkspur. I had seen that entry. I don't know what happened to Clark....next time I am in Edingley I will see if I can get to look at the Church records that are still held in  the village. I suspect he had a name change... but maybe I will never find out.

Thanks again Cheryl
