Hi,

Can anyone please check to see if there is an entry within the above database for an Ernest  Manion , born 1896 between 1915 and 1948 please?

Sorry Paul, couldn't find a match.  Checked MANNION too.  What was his occupation and where do you think he may have been going?

Well, We know he ended up in South Africa (Cape Town...so I'm told), at some point after WW1, and to our knowledge never returned to his native Liverpool, England.

He was my great grandmother's brother, and I was just hoping to see if he may have returned at some point, although I have found a reference on the SA National Archive site relating to the estate papers for an Ernest William Manion who died in 1948 in an Asylum, which I think may be him.

As a result of a chance meeting with him by one of his nephews who was docked over in Cape Town during WW2, we believe he ended up as a manager of a travel company, possible Thomas Cook...
