I am interested in the family name JUDGE. A member of my family named Bernard JUDGE born 1847. Bernard's sister Bridget JUDGE was born in 1833, she was my great great grandmother. Their fathers name was William Judge he was a Laborer. This was on Bridget's wedding certificate in Salford , Lancashire.
The 1881 census for Hulme, Manchester, England lists Bernard as 34 years old and born in Longford, Roscommon Co. Ireland.
Longford was located in Roscommon as being 394 acres in size, (A square mile equals 640 acres) Baroney Castlereagh. Civil Parish Kilkeevin, Province Connaught.
The average-sized townland of Longford lies immediately to the south and southeast of the town of Castlerea, up to and including the Castlerea railway station. Longford is in Kilkeevin civil parish and Castlerea RC parish. I am told that Longford was smaller than a football field. Please would anyone know anything about Longford . Even better.......... have you come across the name Judge in that area?

Hi and thank you Christopher,
The ages of my relatives show they were born before the recod date you sent me. Bridet was born 1833 Brother Bernard was born in 1847.
The fact he was born in Longford was based on a census records in Salford Lancashire, England.

Hi, my name is Victoria Gottfreund (nee Judge) Bernard Judge was my dad's father (born 1908) and Bernard Judge born 1947 was my dad's great grandad. Hi have just found this part of my family tree today. I found a list from Irish Times of all the Judges that lived in Longford Ireland and there are 11 spread over the very small parishes there. Bernard was from Longford in Roscommon. I gather this place was as big as a football pitch  ) I got this from a census record in England.
