"Morayshire Advertiser" Newspaper
« on: Saturday 14 February 09 12:18 UTC (UK) »

Would anyone have access to a the "Morayshire Advertiser" at a library please.  Need to check parents of a deceased child.
Her name was Jane Cattach, she died November 4, 1859 at Garmouth, Moray.
Her death was announced in the Morayshire Advertiser on November 9, 1859.  page 4, column 4.

The Moray Library reference shows her father as "Alexander Cattach of Melbourne" however my information has her belonging to his brother James Cattach & Margaret nee Anderson.
Jane was 12 years old when she passed away.
Alexander was still living in Moray in 1859, he immigrated to Australia in1861.

Want to make sure I have correct connection.
regards
Debra

As the Moray Library reference (LIBINDX NM261435) says Alexander Cattach, then that is almost certainly what the Morayshire Advertiser says, because the entry in the index is transcribed from the newspaper.

As Jane died in Scotland after 1855, you can see the official death certificate. Go to www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk and invest in a few credits, then use them to download the image of the certificate. This will tell you definitively the full names of her parents, and also who registered the death.

Minimum purchase on ScotlandsPeople is 30 credits. (£6.00).
To find the image you require is only 6 credits. (£1.20).

Go here ( http://www.ancestralscotland.com/signup/register/ ) and register - you'll get 10 credits free, enough to view the image Forfarian refers to.

Guarantee no Spam as a result of either AS or SP.
