Hi,
New reader to the Shropshire list.
With interests in the CRUXTON & SCOLTOCK families.
If it is all possible please I would like a 1871 census lookup request for the CRUXTON family please.
I have a Richard CRUXTON living with his wife Elizabeth at Wrekin Road, Wellington, Shropshire on the 1881 census (RG11/2678/77Page 38)
Richard was then 46 years old and a "Brewers Carter" being born in Wellington, Shropshire. Elizabeth was then 50 years old and was born in Shrewsbury, Shropshire (Maiden name not known)
Richards first wife Jane (Talbot) Cruxton died in 1864 in Millfields, Wellington, I have not yet traced his second marriage to Elizabeth who appears on the 1881 census with him.
I would dearly like to find this family on the 1871 census if at all possible please folks.
I can reciprocate by offering lookups in the Birmingham Central Library Archives.
Kind regards.
Ray Begley.

Little bit confused as this is only entry I could see on 1871. Wrong wife. Are the children correct? 1871:- Catherine Cruxton 45 Wellington, Shropshire, England Wife Wellington Shropshire Fanny Cruxton 11 Wellington, Shropshire, England Daughter Wellington Shropshire John Cruxton 9 Wellington, Shropshire, England Son Wellington Shropshire Richard Cruxton 36 Wellington, Shropshire, England Head general labourer Wellington Shropshire
Address given as Newtown Wellington
I have checked both images and they quite definitely say Catherine in 1871 and Elizabeth in 1881. Cannot see any other Richard Cruxtons.

Thank you so much
Yes the children are correct, but head of household a puzzle
I guess that Richard is still a widower at this point and has not yet remarried
Is there any chance you could email me the image at all please ?
If so ..... rayb@rayb.net
Kind regards.

Thank you so much for the image, that was wonderful, thank you.
We have the birth certificates for the children, but they are from his first marriage to Jane Talbot who died in 1864.
Fanny was born in 1860 and John in 1861.
As you say Catherine could have been his second wife (9 years older) and Elizabeth his third wife (4 years older)
Another conundrum to ponder over, thank you Tricia.
If I can help with any Birmingham lookups please let me know.
Kind Regards.
Ray

Just a quick update.
I found on free bmd a marriage between Richard Cruxton & Elizabet Eaton on the March Quarter 1880
I guess if correct that would make Catherine on the 1871 census his second wife marrying Richard between 1864/5 and 1871.
Thanks for the help Tricia, very much appreciated.
Kind regards.
