Could someone look up the parish records for me please for: Edward McGrath & Mary Costray about 1830. It would be the Catholic Church in Thurles or thereabout. Children: Ellen born 1833, Bridget born 1835 and Mary and then a James in 1840. Any assistance would be helpful, thank you Mima.

Hi Mima,
I think Tony is right about the placename. Ardlaman and Ardloman are definitely in Tipperary but not close to Thurles. The scan above certainly reads like 'Ardlemon' and may be how 'Ardlaman' was heard by whoever wrote it down. There is also an Ardlaman in Limerick but not close to the Tipperary border.
I'm wondering about the Costray name. Apart from your posts on RootsChat I can find it nowhere else on the web. Is there any chance it might read 'Costigan'? This name is most common in Tipperary, Kilkenny and Laois which are neighbouring counties.
If you could scan that name on the cert you have it might help you forward.
Dara.

Hi all, Adding the part of the Certificate with the name Costray on it. I too have looked for this name and can only find one for Gostray but no other details. Annie
