Roll of Honour - Belhelvie
« on: Monday 16 February 09 10:38 UTC (UK) »

I have a gr uncle who was killed on the 29th September 1918.  His name is on the stone in the church yard at Belhelvie.

His name was Alexander Davidson Barron and was in the 6th Battalion Tanks.

I have the details of where he is buried from the CWGC.

I wondered if anyone from the area might know if there is a book with perhaps a photograph of Alexander.  Or if there is a plaque in the church mentioning those from the area who were killed in WW1.

Any help that might produce more than I have would be much appreciated.

Hi Betty,

I'm not sure if there is anything else other than the war memorial itself.

I'd post here if I were you. It's a bit more of a specialist site, and someone may have the answers.

Here's another couple of links. Apologies if you already know about them -

Betty,

I've sent you a PM with an email address of someone who knows a great deal about war memorials.

Cheers

Hi Betty

Attached is a photo of the memorial with your gr uncle on it, if you don't already have it.

Thanks for the information you sent that is brilliant.

I had the second part but not the first part of your information.

Someone else from another site has also provided me with a photograph of his actual grave stone in the Unicorn Cemetery.

It never ceases to amaze me how helpful people are.

Thanks for your time and efforts.

Thanks very much for taking the time to send me a photo of the War Memorial in Belhelvie Cemetery.

I did have the photo but very much appreciate your help.

I recently managed to get a photo of his actual grave stone in France.

It is strange to think that I am probably the first member of the family to see his grave stone.

Thanks for your time.
