I found a record of marriage ( IGI ) for;
Richard Moses and Mary Stephenson.
27/10/1747 St Andrew the Great Cambridge England
My ancestor Richard Moses lived in Upchurch Kent and had a daughter Sarah Moses who was born Lower Halstow Kent in 1758. Record of birth IGI. This record gives her father as Richard Moses and mother Mary ?? no surname.
I wonder if the record naming Mary Stephenson could be her mother. It was customary for couples to marry in the parish of the bride. Is Cambridge all that far away from Upchurch, I suppose this could be the couple I am searching for.
Any help much appreciated.

unless Richard Moses was a mariner of sorts, not very informed with employment/occupations at that time.

It was a good distance to travel, and just to let you know Cambridge is miles from any coast line or port, well at least a good 60 to 70 miles anyway

At that time there was still a lot of river traffic from Lynn and Cambridge functioned as an inland port. Stourbridge Fair was one of the two largest Fairs in Europe and a lot of goods still travelled there by water. For some reason it was the chief market for hops and Kentish hops certainly were dealt with in quantity at the fair. On the whole, though, I suspect this isn't the right marriage.
