No worries. I see you are a Morrison! Is that your OH's name? We may be related on that front too - my great gran was a Morrison from Buchlyvie. Maybe better continue this by pm - we have strayed from the point just a bit!

Memory did serve, we are indeed cousins! I can share what I know of Alexander Sands and Margaret Harvie's descendants later, meanwhile please see below for what I know of his ancestry.
1. Alexander Sands, born 24 August 1837, Kincardine Parish, Perthshire; died March 1895; buried Norrieston Kirkyard, Kincardine Parish. (NOTE: He married (6 August 1858, Kippen, Stirlingshire) Margaret Harvie (born 1838, Glasgow, Lanarkshire; died 14 May 1905/06), daughter of John Harvie and his wife Elizabeth Neilson. Alexander and Margaret had eight children, four sons and four daughters.) [A. S. was son of 2 & 3]
2. John Sands, baptised 12 May 1806, Port of Menteith Parish, Perthshire; died there 6 October 1885. (NOTE: He farmed there at Ward of Goodie, and married twice, here with his first wife.) [son of 4 & 5] + (married 1831) 3. Anne Stewart, died after the birth of her second son (1. above). [Parentage unknown.]
4. Francis Sands, born May 1759, Port of Menteith Parish, Perthshire; died there 15 January 1834; buried there Port of Menteith Parish Kirkyard. (NOTE: He farmed there at Offerance on the Gartur estate.) [son of 8 & 9] + (married 31 July 1790) 5. Margaret Wingate, born 30 March 1767, Kincardine Parish, Perthshire; died 17 September 1858, Port of Menteith Parish, Perthshire. [daughter of 10 & 11]
6 and 7 unknown.
8. Robert Sands, baptised 9 January 1737, Arnvicar, Port of Menteith Parish, Perthshire. (NOTE: He was my 5xGreat-grandfather via his later marriage.) [son of 16 & 17] + (paramour) 9. Mary Leny, born circa 1740, Drymen Parish, Stirlingshire. (NOTE: She was a maid-servant of Robert's father.) [daughter of 18 & 19]
10. Thomas Wingate, [details & parentage mis-filed] + 11. Mary Fisher, [details & parentage mis-filed]
12 through 15 unknown.
16. John Sands, baptised 17 February 1706, Arnvicar, Port of Menteith Parish, Perthsire; died there before 1759. (NOTE: He farmed at Arnvicar on the Cardross estate.) [son of 32 & 33] + 17. Jean Fisher, baptised 9 September 1711, Miln of Ruskie, Port of Menteith Parish, Perthshire. [daughter of 34 & 35]
18. John Leny, [details & parentage unknown] + 19. Catherine MacFarlane, [details & parentage unknown]
20 through 31 unknown.
32. James Sands, born circa 1675, Port of Menteith Parish, Perthshire; alive there 22 January 1736. (NOTE: He was an Elder of Port of Menteith Parish. His first wife, Marion Simmie, was the older sister of his second wife shown here.) [son of 64 & 65] + (2nd wife) 33. Jean Simmie, born circa 1685. [daughter of 66 & 67]
34. John Fisher, alive 1735, Port of Menteith Parish, Perthsire. (NOTE: He was an Elder and Kirk Session Clerk of Port of Menteith Parish.) [other details & parentage unknown] + 35. Mary Buchanan, born circa 1680, Callander Parish, Perthshire. [other details & parentage unknown]
36 through 63 unknown.
64. Robert Sands, born circa 1650; alive 4 June 1699, Port of Menteith Parish, Perthshire. (NOTE: He was an Elder of Port of Menteith Parish.) [parentage unknown] + 65. Anna (surname?), born circa 1655. [parentage unknown]
66. John Simmie, born circa 1650. [parentage unknown] + 67. Jennell MacFarlane, born circa 1660. [parentage unknown]
Our most recent common ancestor was Robert Sands (8. above) so we are 6th cousins once removed.

I'd actually be interested in all the information if thats not to much trouble. I'm on genes reunited if you have a tree there it would probably be the least hassel way to see the connections.
I'd be really interested in the ancestors you mention firstly.
In what way are we cousins?
