Hi Guys
Does anyone have access to baptism records in the Lowick area?
I'm looking for a William BAXTER born abt 1785.
I'm also trying to find his marraige to a Mary from Blatherwick born abt 1786.
Any help would be most appreciated.

It's fairly easy for me as I visit the record office in Northampton fairly regularly 
The registers are on fiche which you can purchase copies of for you own amusement 
Or you can just ask on here and hope someone takes pity on you

Hi Paul,
this is the NRO site -
http://www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/Community/Record+Office/Fiche.htm
The fiche can work out quite expensive if your family moved around a lot but if they stayed in one parish for several generations then may be worth while.
The downside is that you have to buy a the whole register rather than just the years you are interseted in - not so bad with smaller villages but £££ when it comes to towns or cities 
I am happy to do register lookups where I can

Thanks Byron!!
I was thinking of getting a second hand reader and putting it in my study here at home.
The problem is you normally have to collect the ones from ebay so I will look locally.
It also means I can give something back to the board if someone like me asks for a look up.
Obviously I will have to talk it over with the BOSS LOL
If you could do a further look up for me when you have time of both sets of parents that would be great!!

Thomas BAXTER of Laxton married Elizabeth LEE otp by banns 9 December 1774
Witnesses: Elizabeth Hodson & John Brown (who must have been a parish clerk as witnessed all the wedding around this time)
Lowick baptisms:
Mary d Thomas & (blank) BAXTER bapt 27 March 1775
Mary d Thomas & Eliza BAXTER bapt 4 Aug 1775
John s Thomas & Eliz BAXTER bapt 25 Dec 1777
Thomas s Thomas & Elizabeth BAXTER bapt 14 Jan 1781
William s Thomas & Elizabeth BAXTER bapt 16 April 1786
James s Thomas & Eliz BAXTER bapt 4 July 1790
There is also a Katherine d Thomas & Mary Baxter bapt in 1786 but the previous entry has another child on the same day with Thomas & Mary Baker as parents so I think this may be an error in the register (ie a Baker not a Baxter)

I managed to find out a bit on the LDS site with the new info you gave me.
Thomas BAXTER Christened 05 Aug 1744 In Laxton
Elizabeth LEE Christened 20 Oct 1751
Thomas Father was Thomas BAXTER too no mother as yet.
Elizabeth's Father was Thomas LEE mother Alice
As for the children I know William is for sure but the others I will have to work out especially the two Mary's.
Byron, I don't suppose next time your in the records office you could look up Baxter deaths in Lowick, Laxton and Thornhaugh please.
