hi i am trying to find out any information about christina gillies < nee bruce> i think she born about 1820 1825 in snizort isle of skye invernesshire she was my ggg grandmother i know she had a son alexander bruce born 1842 in mains forfarshire father unknown so he went to live with his great uncle alexander bruce and his great auntie christina bruce <nee mcpherson> in mains i also know she married a archibald gillies on the 24 april 1857 in greenock and they had a son norman gillies born 15 march 1860  and i also know she died 27 august 1880 in south leith poor house  i wounder if any body out there has any more information her or about south leith poor house

Hi Geno   if your Christina was in the poorhouse there is a wealth of information you will get by contacting the Libraries in Edinburgh   0131 242 8000 who will let you know which building holds the records for South Leith Poorhouse.This happened to my Anscestors that i had been looking for{ In Glasgow ] and they copied all the information  for me so give it a try
