Register of the Privy Council lookup
« on: Monday 16 February 09 15:11 UTC (UK) »

I am wondering if anyone has access to the Register of the Privy Council.  I am hoping to get an abstract of an entry in 1593 relating to the Kincaids of Auchinreoch (near Milton of Campsie, Stirlingshire).  Included was a brother Ninian Kincaid.  This is supposed to be in volume V at page 580.  I would greatly appreciate this as for some reason this particular volume is not available to me.

I would not think to look there as this is London and would deal more with English affairs.  I am interested in the records of the Privy Council of Scotland in the 16th-17th century.  These were abstracted and published in a series of volumes in the 1800s.  Many large libraries have this set but unfortunately none I have access to in my part of Canada have the one I am interested in.  I was wondering if some of the serious researchers here might and would be willing to venture a check sometime.

Best wishes!

Peter

Mr. Anderson,

If you were offended by my desire to tap into some person's generosity for a lookup you could have simply said so or ignored my post.  For the sake of one entry, I was not looking to add this volume to my bookshelf,  I was hoping to get a kind lookup from someone who either by chance already has it on their shelf who regularly walks by it on someone else's shelf.  It seems I am naive in thinking people still do this and thus I apologize to you and others here for my post.  Sorry I wasted your time by perhaps not being clearer about my wishes.

Hi Peter,
No offense taken,
I only happened to find an e-book copy of the document you required and it only costs $15.00.
It can be downloaded from your computer.
I was most glad  I found the publisher by accident as they have an amazing collections of old documents.
I know some time you can wait ages for the right person to be in the right spot and help with the family jigsaw.
The fact that you have got back to 1593 is no mean feat!
And I was merely pointing out  that the document was available to purchase on the internet.
I never regard helping fellow Roots chatters a waste of time,I think Rootschat is the best thing since sliced bread,
Always willing to help,
Billy.
