Albert Edward Anderson bigamous marriage

Albert Edward Anderson m  war widow  Sarah Buckley Dec qtr 1919 in Bucklow.

However he was already married and it is believed he was imprisoned for bigamy.

Can anyone tell me where I can find any records of this.

DEC QTR 1919 in Bucklow.. Albert Edward Anderson to Sarah Buckley Ref No 8a 406
official cert of marriage...I would have thought if this marriage was bigamous it would be taken out of the register records as it was illegal....in my opinion it wasn`t bigamous...let me see if I can find out if bigamous records are deleted...allan Huh

Records of bigamous marriages are not deleted, so there is nothing odd about finding it in the registers.

I have just been on another genealogy site and have been informed that bigamous records are NOT deleted ....but...if you request the certificate the GRO will NOT send you the cert,but they don`t give a reason why.....so presumably if you send for it and it is refused ,this may confirm if it was bigamous....hope this helps...allan Wink

Thank you all for your replies.

The grandaughter of Albert know from the family that he was sent to prison for marryimg in 1919 for  being already married.

Do not know any more details.
