Falmer PR's look up please
« on: Tuesday 17 February 09 18:57 UTC (UK) »

Hi

Does anyone have access to the PR's for Falmer.
I am looking to confirm two baptisms found on IGI to see if they are brothers if it gives fathers occupation or perhaps something else that might tie them up.
29 Oct 1721 John Simons
1 Nov 1730 Richard Symons
or perhaps there might be more siblings in between if I am lucky!
Parents were William and Elizabeth Simons/symons

Many thanks

Hi Kay

Don't know whether you are still looking for this.  It's a difficult one.

According to the Sussex Marriage Index you have two possible couples.

William Simmonds and Elizabeth Smith married at Falmer on 16 Jan 1714

and William Symmonds of Telscombe and Elizabeth Trankmer who married at Falmer on 21 Oct 1716

There are lots of children from 1715 onwards either Simmonds, Symons or Simons but no way of knowing which couple owns which children.

Sadly none that I have seen so far give father's occupation either.

I thought I might be able to find some deaths on findmypast to help but I could only find the following:

William Symons buried at Telscombe on 28 March 1744, it could be the one who came from Telscombe

Unfortunately the SFHG database does not have Telscombe baptisms because I thought I would check and see if there was a William and Elizabeth having children there at the same time.

Have you tried searching for wills?

Um, wills, now there's a thought. - great thinking

Hi Kay

Good way to describe it - a right stinker!

Might be worth seeing if anyone has access to Telscombe PRs to see if there are any children there.  I could check them out at East Sussex Record Offices but I'm not planning a visit for a while.

Kerry

That is a very kind offer to look them up at ESRO but I might be going myself in the not too distant future - summer holidays, so I will decline your offer but many thanks
