My infant gt uncle died on the way to New Zealand in 1860.  would his death have been recorded inScotland or the GRO.  I know he died, it's in the doctors report at the end of the trip.   His record would tie things up tidily.  Any help would be welcome, thank you.

Hi macduffcat,
welcome to RootsChat.
If you know the name of the ship there are ship lists, you'll find these on the Australia Board.
Generally a birth, death or marriage at sea is registered at the next port of call or at the voyage end, often both.
Try the archives at the city of entry to NZ.
