Shipping records
« on: Wednesday 18 February 09 12:36 UTC (UK) »

Hi folks, i know this thread is not in the right location but sure the powers that be will sort that out for me.

I wounder if any one knows of any on or off line places to look for Italian immigrant coming to the UK around the end of the first world war to 1930's? I am not sure where they landed in the UK but i have them in Scotland 1920's.
Cheers

Hi Newf, thanks for your reply. I should have mentioned that i had looked on there ( UK Incoming Passenger Lists, 1878-1960 ) but found none of the families i was looking for on there. Plus none coming from Italy or Sicily.
Cheers.

Yes, the shipping records to/from the UK do not generally include ships from Europe. (The exceptions are that you get the occasional ship that came from/was going to outside Europe but made a European stopover).

One thing to look for would be naturalisation - should be listed in the Gazette - http://www.gazettes-online.co.uk/ also at the National Archives (depending on date of naturalisation).
