Wow what can I say, I'm flabbergasted at the work you have both put into this search, and what you have found out. 
I would not have known where to go for this depth of researching.
I thank you both for all your hard work and all the hours you have put in, lets hope that this information proves to be right, it might take me a while to get my head around so much information.

Well, Lily and her mum + one step-brother.
Thought I'd treat you - this is the household on the 1911 census:
Glenn, John head (widower) 1843 Tholby Bourne
Hollinsworth (probably mis-transcribed), Mary Ann DAUGHTER (married) 1871 Coalsworth
Glenn Florence daughter (single) 1885 Beeston
Moore John visitors (single) 1887 Beeston
Moore Lily visitors (single) 1896 Beeston

No address, though, sadly.
Don't know where Thomas is hiding, Stringbean. It doesn't say deceased on the marriage certificate, does it? Also, what address is given for Lily on the certificate?

Hi again,
Well I think I've got Thomas in 1881 and 1891, living at The Green, Chilwell - and I think that is where he might be in 1911. Might be with an elderly relative - not sure without census info.
However, Stringbean, I am well aware that this is your family and I don't want to take away the thrill of finding out more yourself.
Are you still hoping to track forward to see if any family are still around? I know some info is confidential, but that can be passed on by email or pm.
There's a photo of The Green, at Chilwell, on this site - lots of old photos for you to explore, Stringbean. I grew up in Beeston, Chilwell and Attenborough, so know the area well

Beeston, Beeston, Beeston Horray, you are good do you know that, I hope you are proud of your self.
My reply to you was going to be on lilys will she lived at 54 Imperial Rd Beeston.
On Dorothy's borthers marriage certificate says
married Basford 1943 Harry Sleight lived 54 Imperial Rd Beeston
& kathleen may madden lived 87 or 37 City Rd beeston.
Well you have added even more names to our family tree.

It was Lily's marriage certificate to George I was wondering about - wondered where she was registered as living when she got married.
I bet the house is still there on Imperial Road, Stringbean - you must go and see!

George Sleight lived at 31 Victoria Terrace, Windsor Street Beeston.
lily Hollingsworth lived at 42 Oxford Terrace, Windsor Street Beeston.
I wish i had a car, I would also go and see if I could find any graves.

Thanks for that They lived very close to one another, then.
If (and you still have to look into that, and check it thoroughly) Thomas's parents were Herbert and Ann - then it looks as if Herbert's dad was John (a framework knitter), and his mother was Elizabeth. Herbert was christened at Attenborough Church - 08 Oct 1837 (this isn't on www.familysearch.org - but it looks as if the previous one for his father is).
I had a look to see if either Thomas, or his father were buried at any of the churches near to Beeston. Couldn't see anything for them, but it looks as if John and Elizabeth might be buried at Attenborough. Lovely final resting place - near Attenborough Nature Reserve!
Can't see a burial for Lewin, though. It looks as if the family were in Beeston in 1902, but where he is is a mystery! Not at Beeston Parish Church - possible it could be the Beeston Cemetery on Wollaton Road, Beeston. I'll check out when that opened for you, Stringbean.
I know a lovely site where there are photos; so if you find they are there then I'll pass it on to you, Stringbean.

As promised, I've found out about the last burials at Beeston St. John's - it seems that no new burials took place after 1888; only those with existing family graves/tombs. So, my guess is that your family may be at the Beeston Cemetery:
Her are the contact details for you, Stringbean - they are very helpful. Hopefully, if you give them any dates they can give you a grave number, and tell where abouts in the cemetery the grave is.

Pleased to here about the trains are near by Attenborough church, would like to go one day.
I see you have been busy again, thank you. I am off work Thursday so I'm going to get your information logged down and see if I can find any added information.
You have given me a lot to get my head round and I see you have given me some new names to the tree. Thomas's parents, Herbert and Ann.
also Hebert's dad, John (a framework knitter). There was a programme on tv the other night about factory work and weaving machines. (very good)
Regarding pictures, if you are looking for old pictures of towns, Friths is a good site.

I found the site on Beeston very interesting, some really good photo's and valuable information, I was impressed with the church yard details.

Glad it's all fitting together, and that you found the sites useful. I always find it nice to picture the place where they came from, etc - all adds flesh to the bones, and makes them seem more real
With regard to Herbert - the information is from the parish register. I have a list of Attenborough baptisms.
I can't, for the life of me, though, find his death registration - can you?
My own research is at a complete standstill - I took a day or so off again to try to break down my Adams brickwall, but just can't manage it, however hard I try! 
So, helping others is quite therapeutic, hones up your skills, and stops you going round the bend
Yes, it is a lovely pic of my mum - she does look happy there, but sadly spent some troubled years, too. You see, most families, like yours, have their heartaches, as well as their joys. It's the end result that matters, Stringbean

Thought it was time to give you an update on my family tree.
You gave me this site to look at earlier of beeston.

Good news, my family tree connects to the Hollingworth tree and his first name on this tree is Thomas who is my great grandfather.
This tree has 343 individual names and 86 unique surnames, with this many names I'm still logging them into my tree.
Anyone following this thread, these are the main names in this family tree.
14 Hollingworth
150 Hudstons
20 Smedleys
26 Dennis
Although I have been busy with the above information I haven't found a Marriage for Noah Glenn yet.

Mrs Stringbean - what a lovely surprise
Just got my emails and I'm so pleased that the work we did together bore fruit - you've certainly lots to tell you mum!
I hope she is ok.
I thought it seemed to lead by to Attenborough - you must go and have a look one day. The church is close to the nature reserve, which will be lovely in the summer months.
I've got quite a bit to do at home at the moment, and my sister has just been to stay; so I haven't been on rootschat much recently, but if you do need me I will always pick up your messages and try to help, Stringbean.
I also hope that you've manged to get in contact with some living relatives - I do know that is important to your mum.
If I can find anything on Noel I will let you know.
If you can't visit Attenborough church someone on rootschat might be able to look for the graves for you, or you could look at this site I was told about the other day:

They helped my friend out, and sent him some photographs of family graves.
However, if you can visit Attenborough and Chilwell yourself I'm sure it will be worthwhile - quite special being in the place your ancestors were born, married, etc.

This is entirely non-definitive, but I believe there used to be a George Sleight in Woodhall Spa in the 1950s/60s. My memory may be deceiving me, but I have a feeling that either (or both) a fruit and vegetable business and taxi business were involved - best I can do, and not neary as detailed as some others, but you may want to check the Horncastle & Woodhall Spa News archives for those years.
