Hi terri,
First - welcome to rootschat. I hope you find it interesting and fun!
Well looking at his birthplace on the 1851 census it's easy to conclude that he must be the one born 1801 in Stewkley - parents Thomas and Mary. But, it's a submitted entry, not a parish register entry.
The one at Iver has the same parents' names, but Iver is far away for Stewkley (unless that is where the family came from originally and they went back to relatives for the birth, or his mother came from there).
The nearest place-wise is the Aston Abbots one in 1798, and that lists the parents as Thomas and Mary, too. Fortunately, one of the three entries on www.familysearch.org  is a proper parish register entry.
Are all the ages given for him consistent on the census records, terri?
You might find his death gives a more accurate birth date - on Freebmd.
Hope this helps.

P.S. I'm sending you this site, as it's helpful in finding nearby churches:

* Be warned though that it is only a guide, and doesn't have every church.

Hi again terri,
Just been having a look at my records and I see there is a William Hedges, married to an Elizabeth. He gives his birthplace (1801) as Aston Abbots - so that messes up that theory, doesn't it! Sad Grin
Anyway, will re-think - and come back to you if anything comes to light.

Hi Terri.
If I've got the right family - think I have but say if I'm wrong. They have a daughter, Elizabeth, born in 1834, with them on both the 1851 and 1861 census on the other census details they have him down as being born in 1813.
See what you think, Terri.   Have I go the wrong one? Huh Undecided

Hi terri,
This is the household in 1861 (best list of children) - no Thomas, or Rosanna. Do any of the others fit?
Elizabeth 1834
Leah 1841
Martha 1844
John 1847
William 1849
Mary Ann 1852
Joseph 1857
Richard Grace Hedges 1858
Let me know what you think, terri.
Bye for now,
