William Holland infant death c1814 - 1818
« on: Thursday 19 February 09 22:02 UTC (UK) »

Hi,

I am trying to find the death of William Holland born Lechlade,(Glos) 27.5.1814.  He was baptised in Lechlade church  19.6.1814.  His mother came from Abingdon I believe and wondered if the death was recorded there.  The borders seem to merge around this area, so that is why I am looking to Oxfordshire for the answer.

We are sure he died before 1818 as his parents Thomas and Catherine had another son baptised William born July 1818 in Cirencester.  He died September 1819 aged 13mths.

Their 5th son was also named William and fortunately he went on to live to 56 years of age.

I have searched the Gloucestershire PR's and found no trace of him so am seeking help here.

Many thanks,
Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth ...

The NBI for Gloucestershire (available at www.familyhistoryonline.net) shows two burials for a William HOLLAND, both in 1815.

Unfortunately, the NBI for Oxfordshire is not available online - you would need to contact the OFHS for a look up.

Hi Pennie,

Thanks for the information.  I will have to buy more credits and check those two out.  They seem to be good contenders as I would be more inclined to think he would have died in Cirencester where the family lived from at least 1816 when their 2nd son was born.

Thanks again.
