And in 1851;
At 22 Aitchison Street, New Monkland;
Wm Gibson 32, b Ireland, Iron Miner Helen Gibson 21 Robert Gibson 13 b Ireland, Son Elizabeth Thorn 2, Daughter
Are you sure this is the right Helen? In 1851 and 1861 she's shown as born ireland. The 2 year old in 1851 looks like her illegitimate daughter.
Most interesting?

Thank you Kenny. Yes I have read somewhere that she was born in Ireland too. But in the 1841 it says the following, not sure what to make of it all.
I finally found the family in the 1841 enumeration by looking for the children Andrew and Margaret who were with their mother in 1851. Alex Street in Airdrie; head of the household is listed as a female Mr. Lees aged 45 (likely their mother) and born in England. With her/him are Elisabeth 15, James 15, Helen 12, Andrew 10, and Margaret 7. This time everyone is born in England, except Andrew born in Ireland, but in subsequent enumerations, it is also given as England.
Do you have any advice? Jamie
PS I have not see this child Eliz. Thorn before.

I am also thinking that the two children in the 1851 are in relation to the head of the house. As the son is 13 he must be the son of William and from a previous marriage as Helen is only 21, she would've had the boy at age 8! So maybe the daughter is his too. Or maybe her middle name is Thorn.
Thoughts?

Sorry Jamie,
I've been down the routes you've been and can't find anything new.
I've checked Scotland's People for the 2 yr old Elizabeth Thorn and can't find anything in the area under Thorn, Lees or Gibson!
Best of Luck
Kenny
