A VERY BIG THANKYOU
« Reply #285 on: Friday 20 February 09 19:59 UTC (UK) »

One of the postings in the Comman Room is "do you think Roots Chat will be of any help to you"?
well my story is ,I submitted a posting on the Derbyshire and also the Cheshire page, asking for any information regarding  my family name Hill and also I requested information about the area, Newspapers etc . I had replies very quickly to the area request but nothing much about my Hill family.
Then lo and behold I received a reply  from someone who it turns out is actually a  cousin I had lost contact with 50 years ago.
She had not actually visited the Root Chat site , but had entered a name on google and it brought up my posting.
So the answer to the question is a very big YES
So a very BIG THANKYOU goes to Roots chat and all its members from a very happy lady.
PS, my cousin is now a member

A definate yes as it already has on quite a few occasions.  I must admit I felt a bit guilty about posting so many queries but everyone is very helpful and friendly.  (thought I may be taking too much of peoples time).  Many thanks to everyone who have helped me. Pat

Pat

No need to feel guilty, that's what rootschat is here for.

But I know what you mean.  I have times when my research intensifies and make more queries but then other times I give my FH a rest and just concentrate on helping others with theirs.  That way I feel vindicated!  Smiley

Thanks Kerry,  I do usually have a look at new posts to see if I can help anyone and have managed to do it twice in a small way and as you say it makes you feel that you are giving something back.  Regards Pat

Is there anyone out there who can help me with the Hudson family in Swanton Morley, Norfolk please.
The earliest relative I have found is Miles Hudson in the 1841 census age 55 head.
Thanks,
Nevis

Helpful to me? I should say so! Helping me scramble over brickwalls, ignoring my (hopefully) occasional stupidity, making my tatty photos look wonderful and putting me in contact with a wonderful Canadian connection.
I don't know if I manage to say thank you often enough but believe me, I appreciate all you folks out there, even if we haven't managed to sort out GGGrandad the Edinburgh stationmaster...I live in hope!

I have voted yes and Rootschat has helped me tremendously. I had been stuck on my family research for some time and in a short time I was able to go back a generation or two.

Also has given me many other places to search.

A big thank you.
