Royal Artillery- James Watson
« on: Friday 03 July 09 12:56 UTC (UK) »

Need help in finding this British soldier from 1878  to 1883/4

James Watson Born Hertfordshire 1852, parents may be a Wm & Elizabeth but have yet to find them. I know he was stationed in Halifax, Nova Scotia as he married an Ellen McDonald there in 1878. On the handwritten marriage record I found for him in Canada only the Elizabeth is legible.

I then found a child's birth in Gibraltar in 1884. I had hoped to find his service number on the birth certificate but it just said Sgt, RA, Kings Bastion, Gib. Two children were born  in India in 1887 & 1891(West Bengal).  He was a civilian by the 1901 census. His grandson Charles H. was also in this Regiment and died during the allied invasion of Normandy.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you so much.
