Wilfrid George Prichard Cape Mounted Police.
« on: Sunday 22 February 09 08:51 UTC (UK) »

My Wife,s Grandfather, bn Swansea 1875,enlisted in the  Royal Marine Light Infantry in 1893,served until 10 Dec 1898[Plymouth]register no, 6715.
On his application paper in 1914 to enlist , he states that he served in the CAPE MOUNTED POLICE for 3 years, possibly following his Naval Service.
On 21-10-1916 he was serving as Gunner in the 1st Siege Bn RGA[Reg No 5085] and was awarded the "Military Medal"whilst serving in France.
Wilfrid survived WW1, he lived in Coventry UK with wife and children, one day went out and never came home again[just after 1918 war end.]
We wonder if he went back to the CAPE to settle in a new life after making previous contacts there whilst in the POLICE.
Is there any information in the Cape regarding service of these brave men.
Any advice appreciated.  Allen.
