DUKE OF GLOUCESTER'S VISIT - 1947
« on: Monday 14 February 05 09:01 GMT (UK) »

 Huh Huh

When the Duke of Gloucester visited South Africa in 1947 an ancestor of mine (an English imigrant), acted as some sort of representative for him.

The family back in England were duly sent a booklet commemorating the event, which showed photos of my ancestor etc., but this was sadly lost in later years.

I wonder if anyone knows where I might get some information on this Royal visit.

Thanks

Hello again Rutti,

Since my last post, I've since been informed by a distant cousin, that the WILLIAMSON ancestor I told you about, may not have been William Edward after all, but a possible son or nephew.  It is thought he would have been a solicitor, or someone in the legal profession.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
