1851 census for Scotland shows Charles age 35 (born Ireland) with 3 children born in Ireland and 2 born in Scotland but current wife only 24 so too young for eldest child (age 14) to be hers. I calculate Charles born about 1816. I surmise that he left Ireland about 1847 as eldest child with new wife is aged 4. Charles was R.Catholic, so presume his first wife died. Is there a way of finding out more about Charles in Ireland. A later record shows he was born in Co. Tyrone.
