Hallo, is anyone able to look up and see if there is a person named Harriet Jordan living in Hull, possibly Myton, at a house in Hamilton Row, (illegible) street, Hull in either the 1851 or 1861 census. I am interested to know who she is living with, ages and occupations. I have no other details of her but she has popped up as the informant in the 1857 death certificate for an ancestor of mine and I am wondering if she is related in some way. Thank you Kirk

Other kids in the Jordan family are (1851):
Frederick 8 Martha 7 Alfred 4
all born Hull.
Frederick is still at home in 1861, as may be Alfred (though if so he is enumerated as "Alfred, son, 40"). Perhaps somebody said 14 and it was misheard by the form-filler as 40. Daughters Martha and Harriet/Harriott are not with their parents in 1861.

Hi Kirk
I've just come across this topic.....
This Harriet JORDAN, of the Census above - is one of mine She was nee HALL and previously married to a Thomas JOHNSON.
She and husband # 2, George JORDAN were my 3xgt Grandparents. They married 28 Jun 1841 in Hull. Both of Full age. She was a widow JOHNSON, residing Spencer Street, father Edward HALL (deceased) Shoemaker. He was a Bachelor, residing Moxon Street, father George JORDAN, Stonemason.
From Census, I worked out her mother is Ann. She had at least 2 sisters, Mary (married? LEE) and Fanny (married Frederick HELDT).
That was about as far back as I have on her - I knew nothong more about Edward. but I'm thrilled to read your other topic: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,383320.0.html
Happy to exchange information
BTW: Mary LEE nee HALL, never remarried - in 1881, she is in Myton, Hull with her married daughter Elizabeth WAUDBY: Mother-In-Law: Mary LEE 73, wid, Trinity House Pensioner, b Kingston Upon Hull (Imbecile) (Mary is probably suffering from Senilty or Alzheimers??)
Cheers AMBLY
