Hi Les

One thing that's twice the name Smith has cropped up, as it is possible that Sarah Acerman married John Smith of Islip - I know it is a very common name but I found this bit in the history of Littlemore

........................................................................
A small group of Roman Catholics at Littlemore survived at least until the early 18th century. The Kimbers of 'St. George's' (fn. 230) were the most notable. A Jesuit priest of that name was born in the county in 1688, and in 1715 Thomas Kimber, who held property in Holywell and Littlemore worth £47, was listed as a non-juror. (fn. 231) In 1694 Ann Day, Ann Smith, and John Littlemore were presented as recusants, and Travers Smith in 1697

From: 'Parishes: Littlemore', A History of the County of Oxford: Volume 5: Bullingdon hundred (1957), pp. 206-214. URL: http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=101891  Date accessed: 19 April 2009.

..................................................................................

I just wondered if that might explain some of the missing baptisms & marriages

 Undecided

Debbie G post

From Islip - there are a few very early 1600s entries I will go back to when we need them.

marriage - by lic 1791
William Norice of Wood Eaton to Sarah Ash
witnessed James Ash & Thomas Tanner

They then had
1792 Elizabeth
1794 Henry
1796 John 1799 James
1801 William
1803 Joseph
1805 George
1808 Thomas
1811 Charles
1813 Richard (buried 1814)

burial 1836 of William Norris aged 72 and 1850 Sarah Norris aged 81

So we have a William Norris born abt 1764 and on their last child Richards baptism he is given as cordwainer

do we have a baptism for him?
