Hi - Tracing another part of my family tree, hopefully you can help me.
George Sherret Christie 25 Apr 1876 - 27 July 1955, married Annie Muir 29 Dec 1879 - 16 Jan 1922. It is thought Annie orginally came from the Shetland Isles. Marriage date 17 May 1901.
Did Annie have any other siblings?
thanking you in anticipation

Have you looked at the 1901 marriage cert for Annie and George? If so, what names showed for her parents? That will help in finding her in the censuses. The marriage date in 1901 is just after the census that year.

MacIsaac, MacDonald, MacPherson, MacVarish, MacMaster: Moidart - Inverness-shire. Gillies: pre-1850 Knoydart, Inverness-shire /post 1850s Fort William area - Argyll. Tully, Tulley, Moran, Murphy: Lanarkshire. Durnan, Durnin, Kelly, Tully, McPhillips: Co Monaghan. McIntyre, McMahon, Tully: Co Cavan (?) Ireland. Moran: Co Mayo (?) Ireland. ..........and lots of Spanish name interests........
As you know, the marriage cert will give both sets of parents names and occupations - in Scotland, allowing yuo to get back generation by generation, this will only apply to those who died after 1855.
Census records will allow you to find all siblings who were at home on the night of the census. However will not show children who were born and died before the census - children who were in hospital and who had not appeared in a previous census or children visiting a reletive who had not appeared on a previous census etc.
Before 1875 the IGI has a facility for searching for all children born to a couple. Shall pm you it. Regards, Steve :O)
