I cannot find a birth for this person. I have looked on ScotlandsPeople and Ancestry.com census. I have his parents as Alexander Boyd and Margrt Boyd nee Orr (deceased), from his marriage certificate. On Johns marriage certificate to Euphemia Robertson in 1904 he is listed as 22 years of age. John was married at Cowie in the district of Bannockburn in the county of Stirling. The only person I have found on Scotlands People was a John Wallace born 1883 and that is not him. Were do I go from here. If John was born in a workhouse would he be registered in a different area perhaps.

On the 1891 census for Lanarkshire - John is shown as 4 so b 1886/7

many thanks Carole, I had the first one but could not find your second answer in 1891, I have been looking on and off for weeks, I wonder why he wasn't on ScotlandsPeople? The persons I am looking for tells me that only three boys reached adulthood, sad to have that many die young isn't it. Once again many thanks.

Hi

I'm not familiar with the SP website but have you been confining your search to around 1881/82 in line with his age on his marriage cert?

If so - perhaps 1886/87 may find him
