hi there folks..
can anyone help me find out anything about my g g g grandfather benjamin crowe....
on a census record found for him it states he was born in 1801, in pencombe. but i am not too sure this is the correct information,,
i have found a christening record for a benjamin crowe on 07 OCT 1793 in Pencombe, Hereford, England, but i dont know what to do next..
also on the family search site i found a benjamin trumper crowe, with his fathers name as benjamin trumper and mothers name mary crowe!! this benjamin was christened on 6 feb 1780 in bodenham,
i have been searchiing for information for nearly a year now. so if anyone can come up with anything i will be so pleased..
thanks

Hi Clare,
What do you know to be correct info? For example have you got him mentioned on one of his children's marriage certs or birth certs?
Best wishes,

Hi Clare... if the events you are seeking info about are pre 1837 there will not be certs available- only parish records, then 1841 census.
This pushes you back into family search and the IGI... the actual films of the records often contain more info than the transcription online so maybe you need to order a film of the records at the LDS Family History Centre somewhere near where you live... do you know about this?

A Benjamin Trumper married Ann Wilson at Bodenham in 1771. I wonder if this is your man?

hi everyone,
yes the abov 2 census' are the right ones... i think it says sargent for the occupation in 1841, but not too sure..
on the 1851 it states that benjamin crowe was born in "pankham herefordshire",, but there is no such place called pankham, but there is a pencombe,, i might be totally wrong... (im sure the people who did the cesus' could not spell very well)
and the benjamin trumper, he might be no relation at all... im hoping it is. cos i love the surname,,, ha ha
but thanks to everyone that has replied...
i think im going to have to come up to hereford record office,, (if you have one) and see what i can find....

There are Trumpers still in the area. Originally Marcher Lords who came over with WIlliam the Conqueror and were settled along the Welsh Border, Trumpers at Llanthony to keep the peace.
