Hi,
Frederick Parker b. Beddingham c1831 appears to have died in 1875 - however his final child Amy (the one I'm, most interested in!) wasn't born until 1876...
..............I'll keep looking...
And yes, Clair K is me. I'm everywhere!

You are right. The calculation to see if the 9 month gap between the impergnation of Lucy by the Frederick Parker who died in Brighton in 1875, and birth of Amy back near Firle in 1876 would be just be out of the question?
Frederick died June 1/4 1875 Amy born Sept 1/4 1876
Shame Perhaps Lucy recieved concilation from another feller after the death of her husband, but never let on to the authorities how far it went?
Still think the Hastings Fred is a wrong-un though!

Hi Clair
Just to make things more complicated there is another Frederick Parker born Brighton c1831 and living in Brighton with wife Jane and children in 61/71. I can't see him in 1881 - so might he be the one who died in 1875 rather than the Fred born in Beddingham? That said I can't find the Beddingham Fred after 61
Re Amy's father have you got her birth certificate?

Thanks for all the replies - just to add another issue -
I've been looking back over my records to try and sort this Frederick issue out and rediscovered an eldest son of his and Lucy Colabeen's - Charles b. 1866.
Don't know why I've managed to not see this (it's funny what you find when you go back), but have been trying to find out about him. But I can't find him.
1871 - he is living in 4 Timber St. South, Lewes with Lucy and siblings. But where did he go? It's stated on census that his birthplace was Eastbourne, but I can't find any definite link. All the ones I've found seem a bit sketchy, i.e. Ferring which is quite far.
Can anyone confirm Charles birth? Or see if he is still around in 1881 onwards?
Help would be gratefully received, even if it's just an opinion; it would give me somewhere to go....

Hi Clair
Seems to be quite a common name at that time however I can confirm by 1881 census RG11 1118 79 15 that its not the Ferring one. He was with parents William and Elizabeth from Pulborough.

I've been through the births on Findmypast from 1863 to 1870 and the closest I can come up with is Charles John Parker, December 1867 at Brighton, 2b 220.
But I presume you have discounted him. None at Eastbourne at all, or even Lewes.

In 1881 Charles (transcribed as Colobeen) is a Farm Servant, boarding with Robert & Charlotte L Gillman at Ranscombe Cottages, South Malling.
He states b.1866 Eastbourne.

Thanks for all the replies to my Brickwall post!
Here is a little updated info -
Charles Colabeen is the son/stepson of Frederick Parker and Lucy Colabeen. Can find a birth and census entries for 1871/1881 but then it all stops.
I have got a marriage cert for one of Frederick's children and it names him as Frederick Parker (deceased) and occupation as 'mariner' which is why I can never find him at home in Sussex!
My next question is: How can I trace someone who was aboard ship during the census? I've not encountered this before, so am at a bit of a loss as to where to start. Is there a seperate entry/list for these?
Thanks in advance.....
