A girl called Fortable!
« on: Friday 27 February 09 16:22 UTC (UK) »

I am straying out of my comfort zone of Kirkcudbrightshire to help a friend look for some ancestors from Lochgilphead.
David Meikle McKenna b.1876 Ballantrae, Ayrshire married in Glasgow Fortable Campbell Simers b abt 1876. Her parents were,  according to their marriage lines, James Simers butcher and Fortable Campbell, Lochgilphead.I have been unable to find any Fortable birth certificates for mother or daughter and wondered if, for some reason they changed their names.  I have found an Isabella Campbell Simers born in Argyll in 1878 and wonder if that could be her.
Any ideas?
