Hello All,
Has anyone access to the parish record of High Ongar?
I'm interested in the children and parents of Henry Camp who was born in Essex circa 1781. He married Elizabth Betts on the 7th january, 1806 in High Ongar. I believe Elizabeth was born in High Ongar.
I only know of one child, Henry, who was baptised in High Ongar 8th September, 1816.
Thanks,
David.

Hi David
The parish records of St. Mary's Church, High Ongar are held at the Essex Records Office in Chelmsford. I live in Chelmsford and do visit the ERO to research my own Essex tree branches. When I next go I could easily search for your family. The only thing I cannot give you at the moment is date - I am most likely to visit there in early April (I work in a school and will be on Easter Holidays then) though I may manage a visit before then. Posts about High Ongar always catch my eye as I too was baptised in St. Mary's and lived in High Ongar for the first 23 years of my life.
So if you are able to be patient for a little while longer - hopefully I can find some answers for you.
Regards. Deborah

Hello Deborah,
Thank you for your reply.
I would be most grateful if you could search for me at Chelmsford. The time scale is not a problem.
Henry camp (born circa 1816 in High Ongar) is my 3 x great grandfather.
I look forward to your information.
I have attached part of my tree for your reference.
Best regards,
David.

Hello Louisa,
Thank you very much for your time and research. Very interesting. Henry Camp and Elizabeth Betts were married in High Ongar in 1806. Do you have access to the records before 1815?
Elizabeth may well have been a Bettis/Bettys/Betts. Is there a baptism for her in 1773?
Thanks again.
Best regards,
David.
P.S. We have not been in contact before regarding any other names. I live in Bournemouth in Dorset.

Hello Superfly,
Thank you for your information.
Do you have access to High Ongars baptisms to check if there are any baptisms for Camps between 1805 and 1825?
Best regards,
David.

Hello Superfly,
Thank you for the baptisms. Is the father of the children a Henry Camp and not John as in your reply?
Thanks again for your time.
Best regards,
David.

Hello Superfly,
I don't have Henry/John's parents. Please can you check again the next time you visit the record office as I't's a bit of a shock.
Thank you for your efforts.
Best regards,
David.
