Tallon/Keogh Wicklow
« on: Thursday 25 September 08 19:53 UTC (UK) »

I have received a marriage certificate for my G Grandparents Michael Keogh & Mary Tallon. They were married in the district of Shillelagh in 1889. Michael's residence at the time of marriage is listed as 'Knockatomchoyle' does anyone have any idea where this is? I've googled it but sadly no joy!

Thank you

Welcome to Rootschat.

It's Knockatomcoyle (no 'h')- 1132 acres in the civil parish of Mullinacuff (Shillelagh Poor Law Union and Barony).
See www.seanruad.com to search for townlands in Ireland (be sure to change search setting from exact match to search for part of a word)

I am in need of some help. I have established that Mary Tallon born c1872 was from Redbog in Co Carlow her Father was James Tallon. Michael Keogh born c 1860 from I am assuming Knockatomcoyle in Wicklow was the son of another Michael Keogh.

I really don't know where to look next for any additional information on the Keogh or Tallon families, can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thank you

There should be a birth certificate for Mary (b.c1872) but looks like Michael was probably born before 1864 so you'll have to search for church records (if they exist) of a baptism for him.

Floydy, If you are still using this service could you respond as I am Reasearching the names above during the 1800 and 1900 periods.

Keogh and Tolens are living with some of the Bolgers in the 1901 and 1911 census they are all related.. Also the Tolans are misspelt in the 1911 census but i can confirm that in 1901 they lived at 27 Back Street and in 1911 following the death of Peter Tolan [c1909] they moved down to no 19!

The spellings of Tolan... Toner, Tallon, Tallow Tollo etc
