Hi Linda,

Here are some more search results

Shalford PR D/P 113/1/2 Searched 1665 to 1757.
No Eve families found but I did find the following Eves entries, some people consider Eves and Eve to be spelling variants of the same name, others consider them to be different names, personally I'm unsure but am inclined to think they are from the same rootstock.
Marriages.
Edward Eaves single man & Mary Bedlow single woman, both of this parish, 13 May 1726, image 29.

Baptisms, all children of Edward and Mary Eaves.
John Eaves 2 Sep 1726, image 29.
Simon Aves 20 Feb 1734 image 35.
Mary Aves 25 Jun 1735 image 36.
Thomas Aves 26 Sep 1737 image 37.
Joseph Aves born 7 Nov 1740 and baptised 17 Nov 1740, image 38.

Burials.
Thomas Eaves 16 Jul 1740, affidavit Esther ?, image 38.
Mary Eaves 20 Dec 1741, affidavit Elizabeth Lynn, image 39.
Mary Eaves 8 Aug 1749, affidavit Elizabeth Chaplin, image 40.
No other details were given in the burial entries.

Currently searching High Roding, so far I've searched from the start of D/P 226/1/1 19 Aug 1649 to 1696 and have found no Eve entries.

Regards,

Hi Country Bumpkin,,

Though I'd better alert you to the possibility of another Judith Eve lurking in the background, I had in my search list an Eve marriage licence I intended following up, it has been in the list for a couple of years or so now and I had forgotten it, then all this recent activity on this post brought it back to mind the other day.

A licence was granted on the 11th Dec 1717 for a marriage between Weston Eve, Baker, of Gt Dunmow and Judith Pilbrow widow, Victualler, the marriage was to be solemnised at Gt Dunmow and was signed by Weston Eve and George Fitch, Farmer.

If a daughter named Judith from the Weston Eve and Judith Pilbrow marriage was to marry in 1738 she would be a minor so the Judith Eve you found seems the better candidate of the two for your tree but..........!

I don't know if Weston Eve and Judith Pilgrow are related to my earliest proven ancestors Thomas Eve and Martha Green, if they are, it would have to be two generations further back than Thomas.

It's a shame that Baptisms, Marriages and Burials in the Gt Dunmow PRs currently on line finish at 1632.

Sorry I didn't think of that licence before now but it was only when I was looking at the area of High Easter on a map and noticing Gt Dunmow that a bell rang.

Regards.

In an earlier post on this topic I put in a few Eve entries from the Mashbury PRs (SEAX system), I have now deleted those from that post because I felt it would be better/fairer to put the lot on.  So here are all the Eve entries I found after a "cover to cover" search.  Incidentally, the baptisms and marriages are also on the IGI which shows them in both Mashbury, batch #C047461 and Chignal St James batch #C041851, the only difference between the entries in each parish are minor name spellings.  I couldn't check for Eve entries in the Chignal St James PRs because they are not online yet.

Mashbury D/P 352/1/1

Baptisms
Elizabeth Eve, secunda (2nd) Jul 1541, image #17.
Dionisia (female) Eve 28 Jan 1544, #17.  From Latin: Dionysia = Denis female, Dionysius = Denis male.
Agnes Eve, 24 Jan 1547, #17.
Prudence Eve de bona (Good?) Easter bap ii (2) die de Octobrie 1584, #20.
Sara Eve, nono (= 9th) die Oct 1599, #21.  The IGI has 29 Oct.

Children of Johan(n)is & Maria Eve.
Johanes (male) 11 Feb 1621, #22.
Sara 6 Apr 1623, #22.
Maria 23 Feb 1625, #22.
Johannes 6 Jun 1630, #23.

Jonathon son of Weston & Anne Eve 17 Dec 1662, #24.

Thomas son of Thomas & Sara 22 Dec 1662, #24.

Children of Johanis & Sara Eve
Johanes 22 Apr 1665, #25.
Thomas 16 Feb 1666, #25.

Children of William & Mary Eve.
William 22 Oct 1722, #27.
John 13 Sep 1724, #27.

Mary Eve baptised 21 Oct 1722, #31.  This entry was one of several on a narrow strip of paper inserted in the Register at a later date, no other details were given.

Eve marriages
Gulielmus (William) Eve & Jona (Jana?) Evored 30 May 1540, #42.
Richard Eve & Alice Sweeting 27 Jul 1590, #41.

Richard Eve & Rosa (or Rose) Lukin 10 Dec 1633, #39.
Thomas Eve of Easter bona (Good?) 15 Dec 1662, #39.

Eve burials
Maria Eve 2 Nov 1598, #12.
Alicia, or Aliria or Alivia Eve 21 Oct 1626, #11.
Richardus Eve octavo (8th) Jul 1606, #11.
Thomas filius Johannis & Sara Eve 17 Mar 1666, #10.
Triphena of Abramis Eve 28 Mar 1663, #10.
William Eve 17 May 1729, #8.
Triphena, the T looked like the writer’s T as in Thomas, the r as in Dorothy and the remainder of the letters as I’ve written them!

Regards.

Because they would take up so much space I will not put any other of my Eve findings from in and around the Rodings, the Easters plus other areas.  Most of the parishes 456astro and I have searched lie within an area of a line taken from Writtle to Shellow Bowells then up through the Rodings to Gt and Lt Dunmow and then back down to Writtle.  If anyone has Eve queries in that area they could check with me and if I have the info I'd be pleased to help.

Regards.
