Hi Linda and Bernice,

Linda, yes I was referring to the ERO's SEAX site.  Nor did I know SEAX had so many PRs online until the day before yesterday, then when I brought up a list of online PRs it staggered me.  I felt a right royal idiot to think that here I am with a list of searches as long as your arm when I could probably have carried out any number of them already, der!  Hope I haven't asked for any lookups that I could have done myself, bet I have! Embarrassed   Well, it looks like the garden and housework are going to suffer for a while  Shocked

Bernice, I will keep an eye open for Judith.

Hello Bernice,
Of course, you can interrupt any time!
The only Judith Eve I have is born 1797 in Pleshey so this cannot be her. If I spot her on my "quest for Eve's" I will certainly let you know.

regards,
Linda

Hello Findem,
There are a lot of PR's but maybe they only added them a short while ago! Also not all of the registers = all of the dates) are online so maybe you are not such an idiot after all!!

I am trying to work my way through some of them, it is difficult to know which to pick after the most obvious ones. Als the handwriting although sometimes beautiful, is very difficult to read.

I have found the following so far:

Hi Linda,

Just a quick note.

Have been through Roxwell PRs today found a John Eve son of Richard and Mary baptised 16 June 1696 but no Thomas, I'll put the few Roxwell Eves I found on here tomorrow.

I intend to try Mashbury and Good Easter next, I will be keeping an eye open for any John or Judith Eve.

Hello,
Yes, I would appreciate the Eve info. If we get enough of them we can maybe fit some together. They do seem to move about a bit. Looking for work I suppose. They need not all be related of course. No idea how common the name is.

I looked at Good Easter because I have a number of Buck(ingham) ancestors from there. Not a popluar place for the Eve family!
I found in the Good Easter PR 1678-1803 (marriages only to 1753):

John Lowin and Mary Eve both of Leaden Roothing were married by license the 24th day of October 1689 (image Cool
1694 Jonathan Rolfe of the parish of Bromfield widower and Ffrancis Eve of the parish of Springfield singlewoman was married by liconse the fifth day of February
William Skinner of Barnston singleman and Abigail Eve of the same parish widow were married by license the 21st day of September 1707
Jospeh Tanner of the parish of High Easter singleman and Mary Eve of the same parish singlewoman were married the 5th day of November 1709

1776 Sept 15 Johanna daughter of Thomas and Ann Eve was baptized

Hi Linda & Derek, I think I have found the parents of the Judith Eve I am looking for as yet only found the burials in White Roding. They were Judith & Richard Eve and she died in 1750 and he a year later in 1751, it looks promising because of the name of Judith, so fingers crossed. There are hundreds of Eve's in this area it's a wonder we can find the right ones.

These online registers on SEAX are brilliant.

What I would really like is the story behind all these names, but that is even harder to find!
The images on seax are great. I only recently discovered them thanks to "findem" and am now completely addicted. (my poor family suffer greatly at this time  Sad
I do hope they are still adding because some registers are not there that I would really like to look at.

I know what you mean Linda it is nice to put some meat on the bones of the ancestors and get into social history of the time. Many of mine were farmers around Great Canfield area so have got quite a lot of info from records office.

If you think the Eve families arebad enough, I have Bacon's as well in my tree and the Alger's who I am decended from all started in Lindsell in 15th century, so lots of hours staring at computer screens trying to sort them all out.  Keep plodding!!! Smiley

Hi,

Just finished Margaret Roding, pretty disappointing, I searched D/P 309/1/2 which covers 1665 to 1777 and found only three Eve entries, all baptisms.

Jane Eve daughter of Adam & Jane baptised 9 April 1745, image 24.
William Eve son of Adam & Mary baptised 6 Jul 1746, image 24.

I did a double check of the names of both mothers and they were definitely Jane and Mary, the Rector/clerk must have been confused.  I can't see Adam losing a wife and remarrying in the 13 months between the two children's baptisms especially as there were no Eve burial or marriage entries in D/P 309/1/2.

Richard William Eve son of Richard & Sarah, born 7 May 1775 and baptised 30 May 1775, image 36.

I did notice the following Bush entries which might be of interest to anyone with John and Joanna (nee bush) Eve in their tree.

Jane Bush of Francis & Jane baptised 7 Mar 1681, image 9.

Children of John & Sarah Bush.
Elizabeth bap 24 May 1726, image 16.
John bap 11 Feb 1727, image 16.

William Bush of John & Elizabeth bap 1 Mar 1729, image 17.

Joannah Bush buryed in Woollen 14 Oct 1736, image 12.

John Bush (W) married Sarah Rost (W) 4 Sep 1744, image 24.
the name Rost was also spelt Roast.

Sarah Bush buried 25 March 1745, image 24.

John Bush (W) buried 12 Dec 1774, image 39.

The last entry on D/P 309/1/2 was dated 17 November 1777.

Selina, sorry nothing on Thomas & Joan Eve/s in my tree nor in my "spares" database.

Regards.
