James Wensley - orphan?
« on: Monday 14 February 05 23:10 GMT (UK) »

Can anyone help me find any info re my Great grandfather James Wensley.
In 1881 census he is living in lodgings in Bristol age 20.
1891 is living in Bristol with wife and family inc my grandmother.
Place of birth is Bristol, occupation shoemaker.

Earliest reference I can find is 1871 census.
He is age 12 and an inmate in Union Workhouse Stapleton.
His brother Frederick 5 and sister James 9 are also there.

Would like to find parents names and reason for being in workhouse.

Hi there ringwarrior, Smiley

if you can give me the Parish for Bristol I will have a go at finding the family in 1861.

Bristol is too large an area to search on an census without an index unless you have some idea of where to look.

Your welcome ringwarrior Grin

I wouldn't have found James without the help of janetm so it was a bit of a team effort which is the best way to operate.

We are all happy to have helped you.

Cheers
