Possibly, if you are within easy reach, you could try the reference library at Lincoln, or alternatively the Lincolnshire Archives Rumbold St.

Hi

I thought I would let you know I know have this story, a friend who is reporter looked it up for me. He died December 22/23 1953

The man was Henry Stokes Brown he was my great grandfather I had grown up hearing the story but to actually read the newspaper article was very sad.

Having read this it has opened many doors to expanding my family tree on my mums side of the family.

Thanks to those who made suggestions on where to look

Been there Yellabelly, know how it feels, when I found out about my family tragedy it was 1997, and the death took place in 1901;(Boston tragedies in local papers at the time) so one from 1953 must be at least twice as hard.

As a result of this story as I said I have been able to trace back my mothers family. I heard lots of stories when I was growing up about my great and great great grandparents and how we all came from this area but to actually see it on paper makes a journey to Boston and surrounding areas feel just that bit different knowing that my family grew up and worked on the farms around me. One of my great great grandfathers was a shepherd it just seems weird to think of shepherds in Lincolnshire so close to the sea!

In the newspaper article it said that my great grandfather was gassed in 1940 "whilst in the service of the Admiralty" that has got me intrigued. I knew he had gas poisoning but never quite knew how he got it.
