Cranefeldt (unusual name)

 Huh hi there   i am looking for any information on the name of Cranefeldt, there are hardly any pieces of information available just couple of deaths in the general registers and a will in the national archives the name could be from Austrian/German origin as the Louisa Cranefeldt i have in my family was born in  Berlin abt 1763 died 1838 westminster london and she married a John Watts b. abt 1750 died 1820 westminster london they were both actors so far i have not found a link between a George Cranefeldt d 1833 borough road surrey. the one who is in the will but i am sure there is a link as this name is so rare that they have to be linked somewhere hope somebody out there can help me. regards chris

Hi Chris,
Have you considered the name may have been Anglicized to CRANFIELD - still quite a rare name....appears quite often in the London area so may be linked to your Cranefeldt.

There is a George Thomas Cranefeldt on a list dated 24 June 1835 as one of the creditors of William Asprey, Bruton Street, Middlesex, silversmith and jeweller, who became bankrupt in 1825. You will find this list at the National Archives, Kew, in Asprey's bankruptcy file, B3/99. Unfortunately, it gives no further information.
