Bromsgrove district
« on: Wednesday 24 June 09 20:03 UTC (UK) »

Hello,

I have been trying to find the deaths of 2 grt Aunts & a grt Uncle in Birmingham area in 1970s & came across a death entry on Ancestry for Elizabeth Jane Smith (born 20sept 1892, same as my grt auntie) in sept q 1979 - so guessing it is her.  The district is Bromsgrove, Worcester....

First of all would someone from the Birmingham area be registered in the Bromsgrove district.  Also could someone tell me which towns etc would come under Bromsgrove district so that i could maybe try & find out where she could be burried.

I live in Wales & do not know the area at all........some advice would be really helpfull.

Thank you,
Jan

Hi Jan,
The main areas of Bromsgrove are Sidemoor, Catshill, Dodford but the current district covers quite an area, I lived in Rubery for 16 years which comes under Birmingham postally but under Bromsgrove UDC. The link below should tell you a little more about it's early history and development. If you scroll down the page it should tell you the churches.

best wishes, Tony
