As many of you researching in Bury St Edmunds know, the two parish churches for the town, St James and St Mary stand almost next to each other.

However, St James' became a cathedral in 1914 and is also known as Bury St
Edmunds cathedral.

Now it has been renamed in recognition of its history and origins as a
parish church, from now on it will be known as

the Cathedral Church of St James and St Edmund.

You can of course view both churches at www.suffolkchurches.co.uk
